Two:20 Productions | Montrose, Colorado » Photographers and Videographers in Montrose, Colorado

  • Hi! We are Shane and Joanna Daly, a husband and wife team based in Montrose, Colorado.
We serve the entire western slope and love capturing memories through photography and videography.

When you order prints and products from Two:20 Productions, it’s always always always important to take note of the aspect ratio of your desired choice.

I shoot in a 4×6 ratio, so an 8×10 print will cut off some information- it’s up to you (we’ll help you) to decide if that information is important for that particular photo. If you are ordering through your online gallery, you can see what will be the final result during the checkout process. So if you are ordering a photo that is NOT a 4×6 ratio, please be sure to check the final crop before completing the checkout process.

Some photos will look GREAT in a square ratio, while others may not. During your viewing and ordering session, we can guide you through all of that because it can be quite overwhelming if you are used to an 8×10 print being “big,” when really, a 24×36 would look better above the mantle. Check out this handy-dandy cropping guide to see the different aspect ratios and how it affects the beautiful Senior Model Vale!

Before the digital age, when families went to get their portraits done, they would all have a similar experience. Show up, smile, wait a week or three, see the printed proofs, choose favorite images, photographer makes those images into prints of desired size, family frames them, puts them on their wall, and and sends a few to friends and family, and then enjoys their photographs day after day.

These days, I get the same question all the time, “Will I get these images on a disc?” When I finally had the guts to ask a few clients what they will do (or have done) with their images, I get very similar responses.

“I post them on Facebook for my family in another state to see.”
“I will eventually print out my favorites.”
“I am trying to find the perfect collage arrangement for my photos in the family room.”

and one honest client told me

“I am so embarrassed to tell you, but the CD you gave me is sitting in a drawer in our office. I want to print them, but I am just so overwhelmed by the choices, and I just don’t have the time!”

I am sure that I would hear similar responses if I asked many past clients, but I don’t want to make them feel bad. It’s easy to get caught up in the everyday. You KNOW it’s important, but life happens. I get it.

Your precious family photographs are not just images on a USB drive (or CD) to haphazardly toss into the junk drawer never to be seen by the public. All too often this is the unfortunate fate of your family memories. But we’re talking about your family here. These images are artwork!

This honest client who shared what happens to many of my clients is one of the biggest reasons Two:20 Productions has decided to have in-person viewing and ordering sessions with every client. We feel it not only our job, but our DUTY, to help you enjoy your images to the fullest. We won’t be “salesy” or pushy at your ordering session, but we feel we would be doing you a disservice if we left you to your own devices to decide what is best for you and your family.

We don’t want you to just leave those priceless images on your USB drive… we want you to proudly display them in your home and share them with friends and family!

Here are our favorite five products that you will have the opportunity to choose at your ordering session.

1. Large Standout or Canvas Wall Art, or Framed Prints
I lump these together because they have the same benefits- the difference is personal preference of what will match the feel of your home and what you prefer to look at every day.

They can make a statement about how important your family is when visitors enter your home. They can spark conversations about your children. They remind you everyday how much your family means to you. When your TV is bigger than the photo on your wall, it looks like you value electronics more than your family- which I know isn’t true at all!

We recommend starting with the “centerpiece” image. When you first walk in the door, you and your guests should see your beautiful family. The Standout and Canvas Wall Art pieces are ready-to-hang right out of the box. We will frame your prints if you choose from our frames.

2. Framed, Canvas, or Standout Collection
Whether you have several favorite images, or you want to add other images around your centerpiece image mentioned above, a wall collection is a great way to have the best of both worlds.

4. Coffee Table Album
An album is a great way to enjoy all your favorite images from your session! We have leather and hardcover options, in 6×6 and 10×10 sizes. Beautiful layouts to feature your absolute favorites, and still include the others to tell the whole story.

The leather albums are the favorite for weddings and seniors, and the hardcover albums are the favorite for families, but don’t let us what is best for you! We are just here to guide you:)

This is the album from OUR wedding, and we LOVE it! We couldn’t imagine not having it.

5. Pocket Album

You know how grandparents have those wallet-sized photo holders in their wallet, and they love showing off their grandchildren’s photos, but it’s hard to see their cute faces through that frosty cover? These pocket albums are a perfect modern twist to this tradition! Seniors can carry their photos around to share with their friends, and parents can have a cute way to display their family session on end tables or on the fridge (yup, they’re magnetic)!

A week before Carlton and Allison’s wedding, their photographer cancelled! Imagine their panic! Shane was available, thankfully, so he came to their rescue. They got married at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Montrose, Colorado, and their reception was at the Holiday Inn just next door. It was a low key wedding, without all the bells and whistles, but very special. It definitely highlighted their love for one another, and you just know they will have a lifetime of happiness. They had a beautiful candle lighting during their ceremony to replace the exchange of rings, which was a unique touch. Thanks for choosing Shane to “save the day” and photograph your wedding. We wish you many blessings in your marriage together.

Last week was Part 1 of our iPhone vs Professional debate. We talked about our recent family photo session and why we loved it! Today, we are going to talk about when to use your iPhone, and when to hire a professional.

There are two main types of photographs: There are SNAPSHOTS… and then there are PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS.

When Shane and I got married, we hired a professional photographer, and she was fantastic! We hired Tina Joiner and you can see our wedding photos by clicking on this sentence! But when we went on our honeymoon, we snapped away with our iPhone. When we moved into our new rental home, we whipped out our iPhone. When we take Willy and Boomer to the dog park, we take our iPhone. When my husband and I go for a walk, we sometimes take selfies. There is something magical about the everyday snapshot. When we have kids and they get into the baby powder, or when they miserably fail while trying to help me make eggs for breakfast- I’ll have my iPhone ready.

On our honeymoon in New York City. Go Yankees!

And then there are professional photographs. The ones where you put a little bit more effort into the way your clothes look and how your hair falls. You find a place on your wall to display your family on their “best behavior.” The photographs that tell a story. The ones that you will pass on to your grandchildren.

We recommend having professional photographs taken every year as a family, and every three months when they are brand new to the world. When we did mini sessions in Fall of 2013, the mom admitted that this was their first family portrait session since before their youngest was born!

I’m sure their phones are FULL of snapshots of their children- such as when their oldest daughter donated her hair to Locks of Love a few months after this session- but this is a photograph they will cherish forever because they are relaxed, having fun, and most importantly, they are ALL in it together!

There is definitely a place for snapshots, but there is also a place for professional photography. When you book a session with Two:20 Productions, we walk you through each step so it takes all the guesswork out of the process. We will give you a lot of resources to help you with wardrobe choices, make-up tips, the products we offer, and what would be the best way for you to enjoy your photographs based on your needs and wants!

Drop us an e-mail at two20pro@gmail.com to get our conversation started about YOUR professional photography session with Two:20 Productions! You can also find us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!
