Two:20 Productions | Montrose, Colorado » Photographers and Videographers in Montrose, Colorado

  • Hi! We are Shane and Joanna Daly, a husband and wife team based in Montrose, Colorado.
We serve the entire western slope and love capturing memories through photography and videography.

Amy and Bud are engaged! We are so excited for them and honored that they chose us to help them remember this exciting time in their lives. They are such a fun couple and their great personalities and joyful relationship really come through in these pictures.

So a guy walks into a bar… Just kidding! But that’s really how they met! Bud went to a bar for his birthday and Amy just so happened to be at the same bar for a friend’s going away party. The two groups ended up mingling that night and the next thing you know Bud is giving Amy’s dad a business card with his number on it. Can you say awww?! Isn’t it great how everything seems to fall into place at just the right time? Their first date consisted of the bar where they first met, a stroll on Main Street to admire the local artwork, and to end the night in a perfect way, a stop at the sushi restaurant. When I asked if they had any funny stories about their relationship, they told of the first time they held hands. Bud asked “what’s wrong with your hand?” and before Amy could reply, said “it looks lonely” and then held it. Good one, Bud! And of course, no engagement photo shoot would be complete without the proposal story. It was a day like any other, hanging out at home, and they decided to invite family over to join them. When all the family was there and the time was perfect, Bud popped the question!

This sweet couple loves to watch TV together and describe their relationship as unique, casual, silly, friendly, and quirky. Some of Bud’s favorite things about Amy are their similarities and how funny she is. She is his best friend. Amy describes Bud as kind and caring and she loves that he makes her laugh and they enjoy spending time together and have a lot of fun. Bud and Amy, we hope you continue to make each other laugh for many years to come. We so enjoyed capturing this special time!

We can’t wait to capture your wedding as your photography/videography team next September!

Shane and I got married this past March, and we have photographed several weddings, so although we are not wedding ninjas (Shane may beg to differ), we do have quite a bit experience in the wedding field, and we wanted to share a few tips with you! Actually, we will share FIVE with you! You can also see some of our wedding album in this post, where we talk about our favorite ways to display your wedding photo memories!Taken by Tina Joiner Photography

5 Tips for Wedding Planning

1. Prepare for exhaustion
Bring flats or flip flops for walking between various photo locations and for dancing the night away. Yes, this day is all about YOU and YOUR love, but it takes a lot of energy to be in the spotlight for a full day. Cans of Red Bull or Monster may be helpful to keep you perky, and an encouraging wedding party is key to keep you going when you feel like you can’t smile anymore. If you’re a half or full marathon runner, you know that you train for 3/4 of the race, but sheer will takes you the full distance. The same goes for your wedding. Just keep going! Your future, married self will thank you!

Brides: a small container of baby powder will be super helpful… especially in the summer!

2. Make your first kiss count
Don’t think “short and sweet.” Keep it going, baby! The longer the kiss, the more beautiful photos there will be of that moment.

3. Confirm your vendors the day before
Call or e-mail ALL involved to confirm times, locations, and amounts owed. Nobody wants a limo service to realize they are double-booked the DAY OF. And your best friend would feel terrible if she thought you wanted to start your hair and make-up at 1pm, but you wanted her there at 11am. Those lost hours will cut into other scheduled items on your carefully planned timeline.

4. Decide who will be in charge of your stuff after the reception
You’ve been whisked away in your vehicle of choice (perhaps with a few tin cans tied to the back), and the party wraps up. What will become of your gifts, guest book, leftover food, cake, flowers, toasting flutes, etc? Does your go-to person know exactly what they are in charge of, or are they to just scan the room and pick up “anything that may look important?”

When you have chosen your trusty person(s), let them know their specific responsibilities. Will your gifts go to your parents’ house, your house/apartment, or other location? Will your dress be preserved right away, or are you keeping it for a rock-the-dress photo session (have a hanger and garment bag so it doesn’t wrinkle)? Local shelters would probably love extra food, and nursing homes will likely accept flower donations, but call ahead to find out when and where they can be dropped off.

speaking of friends…

5. Collect photos from guests!
Have a friend, laptop in hand, go around to guests and copy (NOT TAKE) the photos from their memory cards. It will be a hassle to try to contact people later, hunt them down, and get copies of their captured memories. Try not to have it be a member of the wedding party, as they will be super busy with other things. Shane and I used WedPics, which is a website and an app that guests can use to upload their photos to one place. We did print out everything that people posted there, but we know that we missed several cameras by leaving it to our guests. Some other brides may have more success with this.

BONUS: Hire professional photo and video teams! Two:20 Productions is a photography AND videography business, and we take your big day very seriously. Your wedding will be a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing! It’s not a birthday or anniversary that happens every year. Trust the pros. We’ve done it a time or two;)

Taylor was referred to us by one of our Senior models, and we were very excited to work with him. He also attends Montrose High School and will be graduating in 2015. Some of the extracurricular activities that he said he likes to participate in include tennis and dirtbiking. He wanted to include his dirtbike, and we were eager to incorporate something meaningful to him into this session. Luckily, the downpour of rain stopped in time for us to get some great pictures. He rides a Kawasaki 250 four-stroke, and it was a great addition to the shoot. We were also very excited when he asked to include his new puppy Oliver in some of the pictures. Adorable overload!. Oliver added cuteness only a puppy can bring and helped bring out Taylor’s natural smile.

Taylor describes himself as active, athletic, fun, and outgoing. He’s the second child in his family and enjoys being outside. He’s independent and confident, and his friends describe him as humorous and fun to be around. We had fun capturing his goofy side, but were also impressed by some of the more serious shots we got. GQ status! There are so many pictures that are yearbook worthy! Taylor, we hope your senior year is everything you hoped it would be and you enjoy this time during your last year of high school– it goes by fast! Here’s to many more adventures to come!

I was very excited to capture this family of three, especially because of the one and a half year old cutie that would (of course!) be the center of the shoot. Her parents, Aimee and Brad, described the playfulness and curiosity Annabelle possesses during this stage in her life. In our session, they desired to capture her sweet personality and never forget the child-like wonderment she has today.

An outdoor shoot was perfect for the Chavez family because of their love of the outdoors. Aimee loves to photograph nature and they all love to bike, ski, and camp in beautiful Colorado. When Brad isn’t building houses, Aimee isn’t helping victims of domestic violence, and little Annabelle isn’t spending time with her grandparents, they love to cook and eat together, visit  with family and friends, and play together. It’s apparent that Annabelle soaks up every minute she spends with her parents and loves to be with them. When we were losing her interest and attention, we decided to bring out the bubbles. She was absolutely enchanted and for the rest of the shoot wanted to play with the bubbles. This gave us the opportunity to capture some very adorable candid pictures without posing (the best kind!).

Of course we had to capture the very sweet couple, Brad and Aimee. This part of the shoot was so easy because of the way they constantly looked at one another. Annabelle will be able to look at these pictures and have evidence of the love her parents share, and the love they have for her. I am so excited to share these pictures with you all!
