Fashioned For Fun, a program run by Life Choices Family Resource Center in Montrose, Colorado, had a super fun 50’s style mother-daughter banquet. Two:20 Productions ran the photobooth and also took some photos during the event itself. It was SO FUN! A lot of girls went with the classic Grease wardrobe, while others chose a Marilyn Monroe-esque look.
Life Choices has many programs, from parenting classes, free pregnancy tests, but also preventative programs such as this. When girls value themselves and know they are loved, unwanted teen pregnancies are much less likely to happen. The girls who went through Fashioned For Fun learned a lot about themselves, how to dress for their body type, goal setting, and the different ways they are smart, etc!
At this event, there were rootbeer floats (graciously provided by A&W), a bubble gum blowing contest, yo-yo contest, hula hoop contest, Mr Potato Head centerpieces, just to name a few! They were taught that there are four main body types (hourglass, pear, box, apple) and examples of what kind of outfits to wear were displayed. They also learned that there are four main types of fashion (the classic, romantic, casual, trendy), and it was fun to see which type the girls were, and which type their moms were. It was emphasized to the moms that their body type and fashion type usually doesn’t match their daughter, but it may still be modest. What a fun event!
