I LOVE my iPhone. I actually ran out of memory on my 16GB iPhone 5 because of photos! Photos of my dogs, meals I have cooked, and those gorgeous Colorado sunsets. I just can’t get enough of them.

I have this idea that I’m going to print out my favorite photos and put in an album to cherish forever. The truth is, I have done that once about a year ago. I printed out about 50 photos of my boyfriend (now husband) and me. I tell myself, “when I get caught up in life, then I’ll carve out a whole day to devote to personal photographs.” But if I ever DO have a free day, it doesn’t get devoted to that- I go hiking with my husband, or we visit the in-laws, or just have a lazy day with lots of napping.

You see, even with the greatest intentions, we never get around to all the bajillion things we have on our to-do list.

Shane made me hold my first catch!
Recently, my husband (Shane) and I decided that we wanted some nice photos of our family. Him, me, and our two furry children (Willy and Boomer). We were planning on bringing our tripod and cameras to the park and using our triggers to take our photos. But then we got to thinking. Will we get the focusing just right with our dogs fidgeting? Will we be able to get the variety of shots we want in just an hour? Will we get frustrated with all the different things we need to keep in mind as both the photographer and the subject? Do I really want to spend hours editing our own family photographs when I could be doing other things?
We decided to hire a local photographer to capture our family photographs, and we absolutely do not regret it! All we had to do was show up and look pretty, and our photographer took care of all the rest. We handed over some money in exchange for peace of mind, an hour of fun, and priceless memories!
