Before the digital age, when families went to get their portraits done, they would all have a similar experience. Show up, smile, wait a week or three, see the printed proofs, choose favorite images, photographer makes those images into prints of desired size, family frames them, puts them on their wall, and and sends a few to friends and family, and then enjoys their photographs day after day.
These days, I get the same question all the time, “Will I get these images on a disc?” When I finally had the guts to ask a few clients what they will do (or have done) with their images, I get very similar responses.
“I post them on Facebook for my family in another state to see.”
“I will eventually print out my favorites.”
“I am trying to find the perfect collage arrangement for my photos in the family room.”
and one honest client told me
“I am so embarrassed to tell you, but the CD you gave me is sitting in a drawer in our office. I want to print them, but I am just so overwhelmed by the choices, and I just don’t have the time!”
I am sure that I would hear similar responses if I asked many past clients, but I don’t want to make them feel bad. It’s easy to get caught up in the everyday. You KNOW it’s important, but life happens. I get it.
